Patrick announces $10.3M in statewide playground grants at Taunton's Hopewell Park

Gov. Deval Patrick stopped by the Silver City to announce $10.3 million to build and renovate playgrounds and spray parks in all 54 Bay State cities.

“Growth requires investment, and creating and upgrading recreational parks in urban neighborhoods will help create growth and opportunity across the commonwealth,” Patrick said. “This investment will improve the lives of Massachusetts children and families now and for generations to come.”

Patrick visited Hopewell Park, where the city plans to use its $200,000 share of the grant to build a splash pad.

Through the Our Common Backyards program, the Massachusetts Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs will commit up to $200,000 to fund projects in each city, according to a press release from Patrick’s office.
