WHEN: 4:15 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2015
WHERE: Bristol Community College, Taunton
WHAT: As part of the statewide Commonwealth Conversations tour, Senate President Rosenberg joins Southeastern Massachusetts/South Coast Senators and Senators statewide on a bus tour through Taunton, concluding with a visit to Bristol Community College’s Taunton campus.
After the tour visits New Bedford, Fall River and Attleboro, Senator Pacheco will lead his Senate colleagues on a bus tour of Myles Standish Industrial Park, Taunton State Hospital, Watson Pond State Park, Reed and Barton, the Taunton judicial complex and city hall, before they stop at Bristol Community College. The goal is to highlight current and future development in Greater Taunton, including demands in the economic, public health and general infrastructure sectors.
BCC President John J. Sbrega will welcome the delegation with a presentation about the college’s economic and post-secondary education benefits for the region through its expansion to downtown Taunton. Taunton Mayor Thomas Hoye also will provide remarks, while the regional legislative delegation, elected municipal officials and the Taunton Area Chamber of Commerce have been invited to participate.
The tour will then proceed to Bridgewater State University for a public forum in the Rondileau Campus Center Ballroom starting at 6:30 p.m. Senators will travel through Middleboro circle and the town of Raynham for more information about priorities for the First Plymouth and Bristol District.
“I am honored to welcome my Senate colleagues to the First Plymouth and Bristol district and to introduce them to the people and institutions that make Southeastern Massachusetts great, including Bristol Community College,” Senator Pacheco said. “Although the Commonwealth Conversations tour will be spread throughout four Senate districts, limiting the number of communities Senators will be able to visit on March 11, I encourage constituents across the district to attend the public forum at Bridgewater State University in order to have their voices heard.”
